with Dan Ionescu on guitar

Dan Ionescu was acclaimed by jazz critics as the top Romanian jazz guitarist for 12 consecutive years. During that period, he recorded frequently at the National Radio Studios and for Romanian Television. Since arriving in Toronto in 1996, Dan has been very active in the jazz community performing at a variety of venues and festivals with many of Toronto’s top musicians. As a sideman, he recorded ten CD’s with different Canadian jazz artists. In 2007, he completed a successful tour of Japan for the promotion of Ken G Shimitzu’s “Last Winter” album. As of 2009, Dan has turned to the eight-string guitar (that he designed and build himself) almost exclusively.

In May 2009 he released the “Dan Ionescu Electric Version” album. The album features Dan Ionescu’s Electric Band, which saw great success in the early ’90s on the European music scene (playing in festivals alongside Chick Corea, Steve Coleman Five Elements, John McLaughin Trio, Charles Lloyd, Bob Berg Quartet, and others). In August 2014 he released “DansBand Ginga” album – a remarkable acoustic tribute to the Brazilian and Venezuelan music.]
